![]() Netscape 6.01 Enhanced stability. Netscape 6.01 includes improvements that make installing and using it much more reliable than version 6.0 Fixes for many of the most frequently reported problems in version 6.0. These fixes address, among other things, support for the Mac OS scroll wheel, increased accuracy of the Security lock icon, bookmark descriptions (they are no longer lost), and other user-interface feedback issues. Dvorak Blabs About Stuff The journalist Mac users love to hate, John C. Dvorak, has posted a new article in which he claims that computer sales are down because "computers aren't fun anymore."
|
And of course, the first thing that he blamed for this was the Macintosh.
Yep. Dvorak stated, "the Macintosh was actually the first un-fun computer," after which he proceeded to bash graphical user interfaces and WYSIWYG web page editors. Of course, nowhere in the article does he mention that the GUI, pioneered by the Mac, was perhaps the leading reason for the increase in computer sales this past decade. And if it weren't for graphical user interfaces, the World Wide Web couldn't possibly exist in its current form to begin with, so you could forget about the good old fashioned HTML editing that put "the fun back in computing back in the early days of the Web." Seriously, John. Without the surgence in the popularity of "computers for the rest of us," you would find yourself out of a job. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad.

Apple reconsidering a UK show?
